Hi!

I have noticed that by default, KDE 4 uses PCF fonts. This is great feature (I used to wonder why it is not already there for 3.x :) ). But here is the problem:

Many distributions install font-adobe-75dpi font package as a dependecy of Xorg. This package provides us with Helvetica font, for example, and most probably is not anti-aliased (that's how it looks like). KDE 4 choses this font by default for all things "Sans", and the whole starting setup looks ugly, which requires manualy configuration to be useful.

While this is not a problem for a geek, for most people it is.

It is my request that PCF fonts should not be used in the default configuration.

Many (if not all) distributions use fontconfig to configure the priority of fonts. So if your setup chooses bitmap fonts over scalable fonts, you need to change your fontconfig setup.
