I setup KMail to access my Googlemail account using disconnected IMAP. To prevent downloading uneccesary email (i.e., from All Mail and Spam folders on Gmail), I decided to allow 'local subscriptions' on folders. 
But the deselected folders are still downloaded - the settings show no effect. I get with every connect all mails of all folders from the mail server.

There are two actions need to get it to work:

1. deselect the folder you don't want to download on the local subscription
dialog but without action 2 this will have NO effect...

2. on the account settings select the option that you only want to download
the folder which are selected for local subscription.
