Description Karsten Krispin 2008-10-12 12:37:29 UTC
Version: beta2 (using KDE 4.1.2)
Compiler: gcc 4.3
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I like the new playlist. It is tidy and looks cool. But the context-browser in the middle of amarok2 is just a mess. If you want to drag'n'drop things into a playlist, you have to pass the whole context-thing. That is annoying.

I would be pleased if you would provide an option for the layout of the three columns (collections, context, playlist). In what order they are displayed.

Playlist beside Collection is IMHO much more intuitiv or at least requires less work.

Also, provide the possibility to hide the context-browser (As thoses Qt4-widgets usualy offer). That way you could have a really smart amarok if needed.

Thanks,

Karsten

You can already hide the context view just by resizing it to have 0 width ( using the drag handles on either side of it ). As for dragging across it, that is mitigated by the drop targets that appear over the context view when you drag something from the browsers into it.

I do not think that arbitrary layouting will be supported anytime soon.

Oh, sorry. Just draged the handle just that far that about 50px of the context view stayed up.

The drop targets just offer "append to playlist" as for editing the playlist. Is available in the context-menu as well. So I rather use the menu.

In my oppinion those drag-targets are just a dirty hack to leave the contextview-thing "revolutionary".

Do you guys really like this detour every time. Do you really feel this solution as comfortable? (serious question, not offending)

Though it would be that easy with qt4's widgets, as the layout divisions could be d'n'd as easy as playlist entries. Actually doesn't need an explicit option.
