What's your graphics card and what driver version are you running? Does it still occur in KDE 4.2? I can confirm this with KDE 4.1.85 using the nvidia 96.43.09 drivers. I can get it to happen with 100% reproducibility by launching Flash 8. Please try using recent nvidia drivers. These are the most recent available for my card. (Released a month or so ago) For me, the same issue still exists using: KDE 4.2.1 nvidia 180.37 32 bit system running arch linux. Without running KDE this problem does not appear (gnome, xfce4, openbox). is this still an issue (most likely a driver bug)? Still happening with KDE SC 4.3.80. It also happens with the vesa driver, for what it's worth. Thanks for the info. That only happens when compositing is active, isn't it? (I only remember this issue for Eclipse and OpenOffice.org, but for those it is fixed). Nope, no compositing here. I wish I could use it though. :( > ) or what my friend uses: foobar2000 ( http://foobar2000.org ), my KDE desktop
By /desktop/ you actually mean the /desktop/ (i.e. plasma, the thing with the wallpaper, the gadgets an some panels) or is everything (i.e. "normal" windows - the entire "desktop environment") affected?
Everything is affected; the whole screen blanks back until the objects paint again, whether they be part of Konsole or the Plasma panel. s/blanks back/blanks to black/ just a fair guess: please try to set export XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 before starting wine from the Konsole. No change with that exported. as this affects non composited, it's not a KWin issue. |
