Version:           4.1.2 (KDE 4.1.2) (using 4.1.2 (KDE 4.1.2), MS Visual Studio 2005 SP1)
Compiler:          cl.exe
OS:                Microsoft Windows (i686) release 5.1 (XP Professional)

Steps to reproduce:
- start KWrite from shortcut
- type some text
- press Ctrl+S
- use combo box in navigation bar to choose drive D:
- double click on folder temp
- type some file name (somefile.txt for example) and press Save button

Actual result:
file saved as C:\somefile.txt

Expected result:
file saved to D:\temp\somefile.txt

Please retry with KDE 4.4. Should be fixed.
