Description Jari Aalto 2008-10-05 15:13:03 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.5.9)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

PRECONDITIONS

Factory default Mouse-1 one-click feature is turned off; change it to double click method.

TEST EXECUTION

1. Expand directory view (+)
2. Use Mouse-1 to click item(s); file(s) or directory(ies).

SUGGESTION

Please add to Mouse-3 context menu an item 'Copy loc(a)tion' that would be similar to Firefox/Iceweasel 'Copy Link Location'. This would allow copying the full absolute path name of the selected item(s) to the clipboard (primary selection?).

COMMENTS

If multiple items are selected, return all paths separated by spaces.

Exception: if a path contains special characters (like non [a-zA-Z0-9.%&_]; shell quoting rules), return it in single quoted form.

USE CASE

Many times paths are needed in other applications. This allows transferring the path(s) with (Mouse-2) to other graphical applications.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm changing the product to Dolphin because both Dolphin and Konqueror use the same file management code in KDE 4. I'm not 100% sure though if additions to the context menu have to be done separately for both.

Resetting assignee to default as per bug #305719

There is a service menu at kde-look.org that can be used to copy the location of a file. See bug 317877 comment 4.
