I went back to a 2.6.25 kernel. The first burn, from the ISO image, succeeded. The second burn, which was on the fly, apparently succeeded as a write, but during verification it hung up and the system became barely responsive. The log showed Sep 17 15:06:10 corn kernel: [ 3712.728574] hda: status timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } Sep 17 15:06:10 corn kernel: [ 3712.728588] ide: failed opcode was: unknown Sep 17 15:06:10 corn kernel: [ 3712.728598] hda: drive not ready for command r many times. I had to kill k3b. My primary drives are SATA; I have some old IDE hard drives off a Promise ATA Ultra 133 card. I believe the DVD is connected to a motherboard IDE jack, though I'm not positive. The chances this is a hardware error seem to be going up. I too have this bug. I cannot burn an iso dvd (suse install in this case) but if I use the wodim command directly it works fine.
