Description Michel Nolard 2008-09-12 14:49:42 UTC
Version: unknown (using 3.5.9, Kubuntu (hardy) 4:3.5.9-0ubuntu7.1)
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-19-generic

This is quite annoying when KDiff3 is called from a tool which doesn't give a clear view of which of the selected files will become the base one and which will be seen as the modified one.

As it seemed to me the best bet, I actually commit two tickets : one here so that KDiff3 will help to circumvent bad application behaviors and one for each defective application to avoid messing with users mind integrity ;-)

My wish, and I hope not to be alone, is to see a new action in menus to "Invert A and B files" so that the files currently known as A (or base) and B would be switched from panels and names.

This would be some kind or "File>Open" with an inversion of the file paths in the dialog box, while keeping the changes currently pending.

I thought of a new "File > Invert" or "Window > Invert" menu action.

The core of this functionality i.e. the ability to swap A and B. Is now implemented via. the "Swap Copy..." button in the open dialog.
