Description Carsten Schlipf 2008-09-09 15:10:46 UTC
Version: 3.1.1 (using 4.1.1 (KDE 4.1.1), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-19-generic

On my Ubuntu KDE4 installation tags of Ogg Vorbis audio files are neither read (i.e. not shown in the list) nor can be written to file. Seems like there is no tag support for Ogg Vorbis files at all.

Maybe I am just missing a required library here. I did a search for possible libraries, but haven't found any in the apt repository that may be missing for Ogg Vorbis tag support.
Comment 1 Carsten Schlipf 2008-10-06 14:11:01 UTC
I discovered that not all OGG files are affected. The tags are read and writable for some OGG files and for others not.

I can provide a file on request, but do not want to upload it here. I don't want the RIAA to sue the KDE project.
Comment 2 Scott Wheeler 2008-10-07 06:28:10 UTC
Can you please send one with the file name 170742.ogg to wheeler@kde.org?
Comment 3 Scott Wheeler 2008-10-07 09:42:23 UTC
Hmm, it works fine here for reading and writing. Can you check the permissions of the file and the version of TagLib that you have installed on your machine?
Comment 4 Carsten Schlipf 2009-04-08 20:10:36 UTC
Hi Scott,

sorry for the late reply. I haven't noticed the update. Thanks to Matthew Craig, who sent me a reminder.

WRT permissions:

Somewhat weird as all permissions are 645, however I am the owner of the files, so this shouldn't be a problem? I have changed the permissions to 664, but it didn't help.

WRT taglib version:

Current installed version is 1.5-3. The current KDE Version is 4.2.2
