Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

Kate does not display the content of files that
consist of a single line without a trailing newline until the windows is resized.

Steps to reproduce:
1) echo -n "no newline" > somefile.txt
2) kate somefile.txt; the text is not displayed
4) resize window; text appears

Works for me both with 3.1.1 using KDE 4.1.1 (Kubuntu) and with pretty recent trunk:
KDE: 4.1.65 (KDE 4.1.65 (KDE 4.2 >= 20080903))
Kate: 3.1.65
