Description Nicolas Dumoulin 2008-09-04 10:37:32 UTC
Version: 2.10.999 (using 4.1.1 (KDE 4.1.1), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-19-generic

In dolphin, a right-click on a Java Archive (JAR) file proposes to open the file with ark, but ark doesn't support this format. If I try to open this file with ark, ark appears with an empty view. If I open ark, and then a make a "File->Open", JAR files are not displayed because not in the list of supported types.
While dolphin opens correctly the JAR file and allows to browse the files in the archive.

This problem is caused by kubuntu not including the zip plugin. Ark can indeed open JAR files because these are just normal zip files; the problem is of course that the correct plugin is needed.

Since this is a packaging bug I'm marking it invalid here, but it does not mean I'm ignoring it; I am in fact speaking with the packagers right now about getting it fixed. Expect it to be fixed in kubuntu intrepid and kubuntu-members -kde4 ppa soon.
