Description Chris Fordham 2008-09-02 02:21:51 UTC
Version: 0.50.80 (using KDE 4.1.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

If a an IM buddy is offline in your contact list, the send email action is greyed out. There is no reason for this as emails can be sent to the user if they are offline or online and its common for someone to email a user when they are offline.

This bug may be invalid. Send email seems to be greyed out for everyone on my list.
Can someone confirm the situation here?

'Send email' is only available if you've linked your kopete contacts with a contact in your address book. If it's still grayed out after making the link, then please reopen the bug.

Then this is a logical bug. IM contacts in most protocols have an email field, in particular Hotmail accounts. From the user point of view, its normal to want to right click and send an email to the user when they are offline. The user has no idea, like i've just demonstrated, that they need to add every user (which could be thousands) into their address book just to have the functionality of sending an email to them.
I certainly wouldn't want to add all my MSN contacts into my address book.
