Description Don Boyd 2008-09-01 19:03:39 UTC
Version: 4.1.00 (using KDE 4.1.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Short description covers it. Can't get past "http" when entering a URL in the "New" dialog window. Can't paste a URL into it either.

Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex, updated. Kernel is 2.6.27-2-generic #1 SMP Thu Aug 28 17:18:43 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux. Intel X6800 CPU on Intel D975XBX motherboard.

Thanks for the report. I think that line in the dialog is not really meant to get an entire URL (starting with "http://"), but rather a domain like google.com, kde.org, etc. Note that the description of the line says "When browsing the following site", not "When browsing the following URL". That's why only letters, numbers, dots and dashes are accepted as input in this line.

I'm changing the severity to "wishlist" - the reporter sent me an e-mail and pointed me to the fact that it is possible to enter URLs starting with "http://" in the "Browser Identification->New..." dialog in KDE 3.5 (the "http://" is removed automatically), and I think it might be a good idea to restore this behaviour.
