Version:           1.9.9 (using 3.5.9 "release 49.1" , openSUSE 11.0)
Compiler:          Target: i586-suse-linux
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.25.9-0.2-pae

When in left pane a mailfolder is selected, the first unread email should be seleceted in the topright pane.
In my release not the first unread line (target mail) is selected. Indeed, the line before the target mail is selected. this makes it a bit difficult to navigate to new and unread mails.

In Settings->Configure KMail-> Misc Page have you selected the correct alternative for "When entering a folder"?
It works as expected here.

Hello guys,

(I use german kmail, so the following menu items
are only translations and might not be accurate)

When I selecet 
"Jump to first untread or new mail"

in the Menu
Settings-> Configure KMail-> Misc -> at openening Folder 


all works as requested.

problem was solved by change of configuration settings.
