Have encountered this too, it's very annoying. The suggestion "have a null item at the bottom of the menu" would look odd and may not even be technically possible. Maybe a better solution would be to do as Akregator does - have a "Confirm quit from system tray" dialogue with the usual "Do not ask again" checkbox. Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented. Thank you for your understanding.
