Description Parameshwara Bhat 2008-08-12 04:01:25 UTC
Version:           0.7 (using 4.1.1 (KDE 4.1.0 (4.1 >= 20080722)) "release 26.3", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.0)
Compiler:          gcc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.25.11-0.1-default

If there is a table in pdf file,I can copy that in KPDF and paste in OO Calc and using the Text conversion dialog,re-create the Table approximately.The previous version of Okular allowed this as well.After the update last week,okular text copy of Table data all go into just one column.I can compare this with KPDF(KDE 3.5) on my computer and say this is not how it should work.

Can you attach a sample document please?

okular not able to copy correctly

I copy the same section of the document in kpdf and okular. kpdf behaves as it
has been for long,okular's behaviour was equal to that before last week's
update.(in my memory)

Pino, it seems that the copy behaviour between the document attached here and the one attached in the bug 212458 is different (is this related to the way PDF stores the data?). In the former case the text is parsed following the rows of the table, in the latter the text is parsed following the columns. But at the end the result is the same as only one column of text is created.

Do you confirm that the problem is related to the poppler backend?

I'm marking this as fixed, Okular from KDE 4.8 will include a new text layouting algorithm and it will also include a "Copy text from table" mode, so you'll be able to make sure the text extraction works fine.

If after updating to KDE 4.8 you don't get the behaviour you expected please reopen the bug.
