Maybe it is helpful to tell you the server, you can register for free to it at http://www.motzarella.de/, maybe you could only connect from germany, don't know. Okay, I played a little bit with telnet and wireshark... knode tries to connect to news.motzarella.de, gets a connect and then makes a LIST and LIST NEWSGROUPS when I try to get the newsgrouplist. There is no AUTHINFO USER and AUTHINFO PASS. You should be able to do this again with an imaginary user and password. Okay, I think, this ist everything I could do, if you need somebody to test, just tell me. You should be able to contact me at freenode quite often, my name is Murray_B The bug still exists in kde 4.1.1 in the normal arch-packages (not kdemod). I am a bit irritated because there is no reaction on this critical bug and the knode-devel-mailinglist seems quite dead. Are there still any knode-devs? I heard rumors that knode is unmaintained at the moment... Authentication is only send if the server asks for it, which is not the case here since some groups are public. Downstream at https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=424128 I'm looking at the NNTP kioslave and it only sends auth if the server requests auth with a 480 response code. I'm reviewing the protocol to see how an implementation should volunteer auth in order to see restricted groups. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 167718 *** |
