Version:           0.12.7 (using 3.5.9, compiled sources)
Compiler:          Target: i586-manbo-linux-gnu
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.24.4-desktop586-1mnb

there are 3 spaces before every message i send and a new line after it. its very annoying , there is another bug report which has been filed but they conclusion that the CVS version supports modification of the chat layout hence the matter resolved. but the bug still exists for users of kopete through distros.

what can be done about this?

We probably can't do anything about it since we don't know how to reproduce and it's quite possible it's fixed in KDE 4 already. Please retest, provide more information on how we can reproduce the issue and reopen this bug report.
