Bug 168142

Summary: Kate for KDE 4 will not shut down from the "File/Close" command or with the keystroke combo. Killing it with the "x" works...except it starts up again when I next boot the machine. More irritating than anything. KDE4.1,

Description David Neeley 2008-08-02 20:17:30 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
Compiler: HP DV5000 series laptop.
OS: Linux

I downloaded kate for KDE 4 just after my 4.1 install. When I first started kate to edit a file, I soon discovered that the File/Close menu item did not work, nor did the keystroke combination. I did close the kate window by using the mouse to click on the "x" close control at the top right hand part of its window. However, each time I start the machine now, kate opens as if it had been open before the previous shutdown.

It's more irritating than anything else, really, but I thought I'd bring it to your attention.

By the way, I for one *love* the 4.1 experience thus far--and, given the warnings that it was a preliminary release, 4.0 as well.

File->close is supposed to close the current document, not quit kate. Use file->quit. That should work.
