Description Cédric Brun 2008-07-30 09:57:05 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.1.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

As it's possible to put many taskbars on a single desktop, wouldn't it be cool if one could define a filter for a given taskbar (using regex, part of the filtered window names or any other idea you can come up with).

For instance that would allow a user to have a taskbar for PIM (Konversation, Kopete discussions, Kmail) and another one for office tasks...

This need particularly arise when using instant messanging at the same time as working on the computer, the big number of discussions make it difficult to retrieve your "work" tasks.

ps : I use this special occasion to congrats all the developers involved in KDE 4.x, it's really really cool and impressive !

Isn't this what virtual desktops are for?
Comment 2 Cédric Brun 2008-12-02 18:37:53 UTC
I would not say that, I don't want to split my windows accross several desktop, just define dedicated task bars. Then I don't need to switch from a desktop to another, everything is visible, but picking a window on a dedicated taskbar is far easier :)

Hello!

This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable.

Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting

If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging

Thanks for your understanding!

Nate Graham
