in kopete/kde4, there is only one icon for all protocols, and so much unused space in the contact-list-window (where the status-icon is displayed). with kopete/kde3 it was much easier, to control, with which account to go online/offline and to do protocol-specific settings.

I tried the recent (svn) kopete again, and you have done it (an option to display the protocols instead of identities)! Thanks!! I will close this bug.
