Version:           0.50.80 (using 4.00.98 (KDE 4.0.98 (4.1 RC1)), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler:          gcc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-19-generic

Unfortunately, 
cp -r .kde/share/apps/kopete .kde4/share/apps/
does not help in this regard

You also need .kde/share/config/kopeterc, if it will work please close this bug

Dear user, unfortunately Kopete is no longer maintained.

Please migrate to another solution, e.g. for Jabber a possibility is Kaidan, for Matrix a candidate is NeoChat.
