System Settings -> Advanced -> Session Manager: Under "On Login", there is an option to "Restore manually saved session". The "What's this" help text tells you there is a save session option in the K menu. 

In Kickoff there doesn't seem to be such an option. Neither on the logout screen. So this is pretty useless...
