In KDE3/kopete - with white background color - the contact list is white, and the background color of the individuals in the list is also white, as well as the background color of the folders. In KDE4.1/kopete, the background color is gray, and I cannot change it no matter what color I change. The background color of the folders/groups is not gray, which makes it look even worse.

Please make the background color of the contacts the same as the rest of the window.

The background colour of the folders/groups is grey, too, on Kubuntu 8.04 KDE 4.1 RC1. Otherwise I have the same problem.

Yeah, sorry, here as well - i just usually turn off folders - and if you deselect configure -> contact list -> arrange metacontacts by group, then the background color disappears on the group headings. But then they're just sorted by "online"/"offline".
