This bug report can be closed / marked as fixed. Now it works since KDE 4.2.x with decibel. Generally confirmed by several users via kde-freebsd@kde.org.

I'm seeing "Remote closed connection" with Jabber on KDE: 4.2.88 (KDE 4.2.88 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090527)) "release 127" on openSUSE. Following openSUSE's factory updates, I'm seeing this only for two weeks or so now.
Comment 11 Roman Jarosz 2009-06-02 21:35:26 UTC
Jörg, there's new connection timeout watcher in jabber, so if the server doesn't answer in 15 seconds we close the connection. If 15 seconds is too small interval we can make it wait longer.

Anyway this bug is fixed since 4.2 so I'm marking it as fixed
