Sentry Crash Report:

Description David Johnson 2008-07-13 02:41:10 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.83)
Compiler: gcc 4.2.1
OS: FreeBSD

An odd behavior on my system. If I casually move my mouse cursor through the folder view, the border will not appear until *after* my mouse has left the folder view.

Example. Mouse in is in left middle of screen. I move it up to inside the folder view (1/2 second) then to the right out side of folder view (1/2 second). My mouse is now outside of the folderview, but 1/2 to 1 second later the folder view border appears, stays up for about 1/2 second, then goes away.

Hello !

What do you mean by "border".

Is it the applet handle who contains configuration, resize, move and close icons ?

If you talk about this please update your svn and say us if the problem is still present, a new applet handle has been commited last days.

Cheers

I mean the border that appears around the plasmoids, one side of which contains config/resize/move/etc icons.

I have updated to 4.1 branch (instead of beta2), and while the handle looks and behaves differently, and is only on one side, the problem still exists. There is an annoying lag and delay. The handle is appearing *after* my mouse leaves the plasmoid window.

David,

Are you able quickly to test this with a Linux based distro and say us if the problem you describe is the same for you ?

You seems to have other problems like here http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=166487

and perhaps we have to know if you have a specific problem coming from your video card driver or some qt/kde bug in freebsd

Tested in Arch Linux with trunk. The response is fast enough that the problem is not happening. The border will appear in 1/4 a second, and disappears immediately when mouse leaves. It feels under FreeBSD that it is just taking too long to render, and by the time it shows up the mouse has long since left.

The video card is a Radeon 9000 using Open Source "radeon" driver.
