It is even worse.

a) If I select in options that contacts should be indented, nothing happens, if the "treeview"-checkbox is not activated.

b) If I check the treeview checkbox, it gets really ugly, see following attachment

I think default options should be changed. Also some ugly options should be removed.

Here is my default options proposal:
# Contact List

Contact list style: Right-aligned status icons
Use contact photos when available: Yes
Arrange metacontacts by group: No
Show tree branch lines: No (remove)
Ident contacts: No (remove)
Hide vertical scrollbar: No


# Advanced

Animate changed to contact list items: Yes
Fade in / out contacts as they appear / disappear: Yes
Fold in / out contacts as they appear / disappear: Yes

Auto-hide contact list: No
Auto-hide vertical scrollbar: No

This is a bug report to remove the stupid looking gray background colors in the contact list. Please don't spam it with other stuf, that only reduces the chance that this issue will be fixed.
