Finex, in kubuntu gutsy connecting to MSN just crashes, maybe that's the bug here. If that's the case, it doesn't happen anymore in hardy, the solution is upgrade or maybe kubuntu issued an update to gutsy anyway.

Anyway, more information is needed.

No information added for a month now and msn works fine in 3.5.9 and 4.1, so I am closing this. Might be some kubuntu build problem with the msn plugin. Reopen if necessary or report this to kubuntu if not already reported and/or fixed.
