Description Malte S. Stretz 2008-06-23 12:50:41 UTC
Version: 4.00.83 (KDE 4.0.83 (KDE 4.1 Beta2) (using 4.00.83 (KDE 4.0.83 (KDE 4.1 Beta2), compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-19-generic

There is a small change in behaviour from KDE 3: If you use the Open in New Tab action on a link, in KDE 3 Konqueror immediately opened a new tab and then started to retrieve the page. In KDE 4 it seems like it first contacts the server and as soon as a connection is established, the tab is displayed.

Why was the old behavior better? On a slow internet connection or with slow servers, it might take quite a while until the tab opens.

Its especially annoying with a touchpad like mine: I can tap in the top right corner to emulate a middle click (ie. Open in new Tab). But the touchpad sometimes ignores those clicks (for whatever reason). So when I use that feature I always check if it really got the click by looking at the tab list. A bit annoying but worked quite well in KDE 3. Now I already missed two pages I wanted to read and opened a few others twice.

Please change this back to the old behavior.
