Sentry Crash Report:

Description Maciej Pilichowski 2008-06-17 12:57:05 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.82)

please bring back the assignment to applications module

But richer than in KDE 3.5.9 -- in KDE3 the problem was this module was put in shortcuts yet it was KMenu focused. This was wrong.

Shortcuts module should be of course shortcut focused -- so user would be able to "create" shortcut an assign it to an application -- either by pointing out exact location or by selecting it from KMenu.

This way it would be very easy to assign arbitrary program to any shortcut user likes.

If i understand the bug report correctly - which i'm not sure - this is resolved with since KDE 4.2.

If this is not a duplicate of bug 170455 please reopen and elaborate further.

Not a duplicate, this wish is about:
a) ability to list applications and their shortcuts, not see them one by one
b) ability to (easily) assign shortcut for arbitrary application

Of course in one place, so user does not have to switch from module to module.

So some kind of kmenuedit with a khotkeys like view?
Comment 4 Maciej Pilichowski 2009-03-19 08:06:36 UTC
Yes, exactly.

The KCM now has this functionality again.
