Version:           0.50.80 (using 4.00.80 (KDE 4.0.80 >= (KDE 4.1 Beta1), Kubuntu packages)
Compiler:          gcc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-19-generic

when the plugin/module text effect is selected kopete crash when I'm trying to send a message.

could you provide a full backtrace with debug symbols? You find the instructions on this page:

Sorry I have not been able to do anything before. I update to the version 4.0.83 (from kubuntu) and now it's working fine.
