Description Maciej Pilichowski 2008-06-14 12:10:17 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.82)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

go to appearance: the listbox creating is _animated_.

Please, please -- I know it is cool (it is, I admit), but let users work. Just show the listbox, when you have to set some things, you are quickly tired of such coolness, and you would like to focus on the settings, not visual effects.

I consider it as a UI bug, since I didn't set anything in SS (as "flying listboxes") and it really hurt the eyes to work with it.

I need more feedback from other users to make a call on this.

One thing that Konsole should do in the meantime is to respect KDE's system-wide graphical effects (None,Simple,Complex) setting.

I don't imagine that this is something people access very frequently so I'm not sure this argument really applies. Some people don't like fancy effects anywhere in the UI and fair enough, they can turn them off system-wide in System Settings and Konsole should respect that.

In KDE 4.3 I don't see anything obvious for system-wide effects. I see animation dealing w/ windows; but not the entire desktop.

Hi Maciej,

Thanks for your input but the balance of comments I have received is that more people like this touch of flair than not - even though it is not a standard feature of list views in KDE. If I get more feedback amount this I might change my mind.

Robert, I respect you and your decision, however instead of backing up on users (in this case those are not users reliable in statistics sense, but only advocate ones) it is easy to think in those terms:
-- Would it be productive to have animations in _all_ app's setting dialogs?

In games sure. In work-apps, no -- because it takes time which should be spent on work.

It would be useful to have at least option in rc files to make those bars static.
