Version: (using KDE 3.5.9)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

Although I wouldn't expect Digikam to have all the editing features of something like Gimp, selective editing is absolutely essential to photo editing. For me a choice of selection tools and the ability to edit just what was selected would be a huge improvement. An example would be using a "magic lasso" to select just the subject in an image for sharpening, so that you would not sharpen (increase noise), in the background, or similarly to select just the background and blur only the background. The editing tools in Digikam are decent for editing, with the sharpening tools just being excellent, but being able to easily use them on just select parts of a photo would be a huge step forward. Thanks for all your efforts!

Vern

This looks similar to Bug 155685 - WISH: Layers in image editing.

I don't need layers in image editing, but I definitely need selective editing/editing masks.
