Description Gabe Rivas 2008-05-18 04:03:32 UTC
Version: 0.12.7 (using 3.5.9, compiled sources)
Compiler: Target: i586-mandriva-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.18.8.tex5

My web cam is not being recognized by Kopete and AMSN, however it is listed on my computer hardware configuration center. The camera I have is a Creative.

Did the webcam works with other software?
Comment 2 Gabe Rivas 2008-05-21 03:22:04 UTC
well, it was working a couple of days ago with both Kopete and AMSN. Suddenly it stopped working.

Could you provide more details please, like the camera type and eventual errors on the console? Thanks in advance.
Comment 5 Gabe Rivas 2008-06-30 18:22:34 UTC
it is a creative web cam. I do not see any erros in the console.
Comment 6 Matt Rogers 2008-07-10 06:27:22 UTC
did it quit working with AMSN too?
Comment 7 A. Spehr 2009-05-16 00:17:17 UTC
Did you recently change or update anything when this happened? Does it work now in 4.2 or 4.3beta?

To get the exact type of camera, type:

dmesg |grep amera

do you see the line saying what kind of webcam you have? Or just look through dmesg.

dmesg |grep reative
might work too

Does it still work in other non-kopete programs? Non-kde programs?

Thanks!

Since it worked fine in Kopete and aMSN, then stopped working in both at the same time, this is almost certainly either a hardware or configuration problem. You should probably look for help with it in the Mandriva community.
