I can reproduce the problem with KDE 4.1 in trunk on my new laptop but not with KDE 4.1 (again from trunk) on my old laptop. It appears to be a KNotify problem since the bell settings are saved correctly but are ignored and the standard 'beep' sound is always played.

I had this problem with Kubuntu 8.04 + KDE 4.0.80. However the setting changes seem to become effective after a reboot.

Can anyone still reproduce this bug with a recent KDE version? (4.1.3 / 4.2beta2 / 4.2svn) ? Thanks :)

I'm 99% sure this is fixed somehow since I found it annoying and I haven't thought of it... so I'm closing
