I have both show "Mounted floppy" and "Unmounted floppy" selected in Configure Desktop -> Behaviour -> Device Icons. I have no floppy disk inserted (nor have I in months possibly years!), yet the _unmounted_ icon (i.e. no green triangle) has appeared on my desktop! 

I don't know if it happened at the same time, but I noticed it just after inserting a DVD (I revealed the desktop to open the DVD). I didn't see the the floppy icon appear, but it was there before the DVD icon appeared (which I did witness).

I'm experiencing the same issue.

However I never activated the 'Configure Desktop' -> 'Behavior' -> 'Device Icons' -> 'Show Device Icons' feature. Usually HAL & DBUS provide me with an 'unmounted xy' icon for plugged-in devices anyway.

The problem appeared right after upgrading from KDE 3.5.8 to 3.5.9 on my Gentoo system.

Kdesktop is no more mantained. Fortunatly this bug seems not to be valid for
KDE 4. Please reopen if this bug is not a kdesktop one (and it is not solved)
or it can be reproduced on KDE 4.

Bug closed. Kdesktop is no more mantained.
