Confirmed. (It's blatantly obvious that this is missing.) And if we do that we will got reports like "installing XXX (any kde4 app) makes my color settings go away") And I don't think noone is going to write a short lived transition wizard. I guess this bug will be closed as won't fix in a couple of years ... > And if we do that we will got reports like "installing XXX (any kde4 app) > makes my color settings go away") The right place to do this is either the KDE 4 colors KCM or the code in kdebase-workspace which generates .gtkrc-2.0 etc., not something in the libs which gets run even when you just install a KDE 4 app. > And I don't think noone is going to write a short lived transition wizard. It shouldn't be a transition wizard, the colors KCM should just output the entries for KDE 3 too. We go out of our way to set the colors even for GTK+ apps, why not KDE 3 apps? I experience the same with KDE 4.1 (Debian packages). The gnome schemes do change, though beware: I need to uncheck and re-check the box "Apply colors to non-KDE4 applications" to make it work (I guess that's a separate issue, but still). *** Bug 162866 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I definitely agree with Kevin, entries should be saved in the [General] section too. I hope this is getting worked on, maybe for KDE 4.3? Yes. Please. It would be greatly appreciated if this could be integrated for backwards compatibility. There are a few KD3 based programs that I am still waiting for KDE4 ports. Being able to have matched colors would improved the aesthetic appearance a lot. I want to use KDE4, but this is on a growing list that is starting to convince me that a return to KDE3 would be prudent. (I have filed bugs/FRs on the other things.) This can be closed RESOLVED WONTFIX or some such, I think. |
