There is a error in "OS" isn't IRIX is a Debian Lenny Siegfried, is this the same problem as discussed at the end of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148649 ? Arnd, After to remove all ~./thumbnails folder, i cannot reproduce the problem here. And you ? Gilles Caulier Hallo Arnd, I think it is not the same, https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=148649 ? Hallo Gilles, after removed all ~./thumbnails the problem does persist. I can confirm the above behavior in digikam 0.9.2 / debian-etch / KDE 3.5.5. (digikam 0.9.2 compiled from source). Ingo Kasten Hmm, I don't see any problems ;-) - could you maybe attach a screenshot? Created attachment 24346 [details]
Screenshot
On the attached screenshot you can see a snapshot of a wall-
on the left digikam preview, enlarged to about the size
of the right window, which shows the "edit" window of
the same picture.
Ingo
Segfrid, You talking about preview mode, not thumbnails from icon view Preview load a reduced version of image, not the full image to speed up process. Image Editor load the full image. This is why you see a difference. Preview != Editor Arnd, for me this file is invalid Gilles Caulier Created attachment 24350 [details]
left digikam preview, right window Editor opend with F4
On the left Window the preview on the same size like the right window is opend
with F4 and 120% enlarged.
Gilles, your argument for Preview != Editor difference, (for speed up process).
In digikam 0.8.x in Debian Etch the problem does not exist, tell me why?
Gilles, the explanation you give is understandable to me (speeding up the processes). So maybe it is not a bug. On the other hand it would be a wish to me that there was the choice of setting up the resolution of the preview picture, as I use digikam for watching my pictures, too, and the easiest way of doing so is to watch them in the preview mode. Regards Ingo To Siegfrid #9:
> In digikam 0.8.x in Debian Etch the problem does not exist, tell me why?
==> there is no preview mode in 0.8.0, only editor as current 0.9.x
editor is a separate window. preview is always embedded in album gui.

To Ingo #10 : Preview is for naviguate speedly between the image to make a selection, review, etc. We don't need real data here. Loading speed is important to toggle between image shortly. With JPEG, we use reduced loading method from libjpeg With RAW file, we use JPEG preview embeded in RAW data (reduced image used to display RAW pictures by camera to a TV) With PNG and TIFF, the JPEG preview embeded in IPTC metadata (800x600) Editor is to edit the picture. we need real image data here. Loading huge picture take a while (for ex. with RAW files) Gilles Caulier Siegried, Ingo, have you tried to enable "Embedded preview load full image size" under Digikam "Settings"/"Configure Digikam"/"Albums" ? Best, Arnd Arnd, Great! That's it! Sorry for all the trouble & thank you very much! Ingo Ingo, great! (and no problem ... ;-) Is there anything which could be done, to avoid this type of problem? (maybe something like this wish, expressed for the light-table, https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146260 would be the optimal solution ....) A text for a FAQ entry would be another option... Best, Arnd Arnd, For me, it's o.k. now. Maybe the setting "Embedded preview load full image size" should be the default one. I use Digikam as a general-purpose-photo-application, that means I also watch my photos, choosing the folder, clicking on the first thumbnail, enlarge it to full size and then watch the pictures by pressing pg-up or pg-down. Formerly I was very dissappointed about the quality of my camera, after choosing the right option I now know it better... ;-) On my computer (which isn't the fastest - Sempron64-3000, 1.5 GB memory) the (enlarged!) pictures load in less than 1 sec. I guess that most KDE4 users will have better computers... Up to now I don't use the light-table very often, so I should not give any comment...but the proposal given in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=146260 might also be useful. Thanks, again Ingo Oh yes this wasn't enabled , now it's ok for me also. Thank's for your time and sorry. I dont use the lighttable. Enable "Embedded preview load full image size" fix the problem. Thank you. |
