Hi Devs !

First of all i would like to thanks you for the great job you're doing.
I have compiled the current svn version of the future kde 4.1 and the quality of the desktop environment you are about to make is very amazing.

I have an idea to perhaps increase a little more the user experience and usability who is already very great

I know that plasma is all configurable and than soon will come the possibility to add new panel where you want.
The idea is :
1- add a "favorite apps" plasmoid who use a common source with Kicker (and others) for this one favorites apps
2- add a "recently apps" plasmoid who use a common source with Kicker (and others) for this one recently apps. The recently apps doesn't have to add a favourite apps inside them.
3- add by default a auto-hide left panel who have by order (bottom to hight) :
a K Menu plasmoid, Raptor, the classic one or Kicker.
   a "favorite apps" plasmoid
   a "recently apss" plasmoid
   a trashcan plasmoid

So whe have a dedicated panel for quick launching (applications can be reached by one click).
And we have the principal panel at the bottom who can be dedicated for task/tray icon/hour watch

4- add a show deskop icon on the task bar in place of the K menu :p

By adding 1-favorite apss and 2-recently apps to the plasmoid applets the user can doing this by hand and it would be very great (and it is already for a lot of things) to can configure this settings like this.
By adding this by default the end user will have a very nice usability out of the box and can use the fact that all is configurable to rearrange the two panels (or more !) how he like.

I hope than this can help. I thing that kde is very promising and i would like to have it the most friendly possible for users so they can switch with enthusiasm.

Best regards

> 1- add a "favorite apps" plasmoid who use a common source with Kicker (and others) for this one favorites apps
This feature is implemented by the Lancelot Shelf plasmoid.

> 2- add a "recently apps" plasmoid who use a common source with Kicker (and others) for this one recently apps. The recently apps doesn't have to add a favourite apps inside them.
This feature has a separate report: #160861

> 3- add by default a auto-hide left panel who have by order (bottom to hight) :
Configuring default panels and widgets is up to distributions.

> 4- add a show deskop icon on the task bar in place of the K menu.
Same applies to this request.
