If you disable desktop icons the icons disappear. However if you add new files to the Desktop directory those new files have icons created on the desktop. Re-enabling desktop icons, and disabling desktop icons hides all icons. Also removing each icon individually works.

Is this bug still existing in 4.0.4? On my screen, all seems to be good now with this problem.
