Description Anno V. Heimburg 2008-04-04 13:57:44 UTC
Version: 0.12.7 (using 3.5.8, Gentoo)
Compiler: Target: i686-pc-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.24-gentoo-r4

When I set my MSN password to the 29 letters long string "Ichbrauche1neuesMSN-Passwort", kopete wouldn't let me login to MSN Messenger and insists I entered a wrong pasword (yes I am sure I typed it correctly). Obviously, I changed it again to something shorter and now MSN works again, however, I thought you might want to know about it.

Same problem reported on Pardus's bug tracking system recently and we also can reproduce it with KDE 3.5.9 .

I'm not sure, but i think the password lenght can not longer then 15 chars(using Kopete). Interestingly amsn can handle longer passwords.

Windows live seems to allow a maximum of 16 chars, in that case "hanspeterhanspet" and that lenght works with kopete svn trunk r835161

maybe its worth to note that kopete allows to enter more characters than the 16 i am allowed to use in the password and fails because others just truncate the password after the 16th char.

We've completely replaced the current MSN implementation with a new MSN implementation which If you continue to experience this bug after testing the new implementation (which can be gotten from our subversion repository or with the KDE 4.2 Beta 1 release), PLEASE, open a new bug rather than reopening this bug. Thank you for your time and efforting in helping us find and fix problems in Kopete.
