These and some other shot cuts (especially those for the desktop effects) are not working.

I have a logitech multimedia keyboard. The multimedia keys work fine on kDE 3.5x but not on KDE 4.0x
Will they be implemented eventually?

Can you try to disable Nepomuk in System settings/Advanced and try again please ?

kded4 is likely not running. this is an install/configuration issue on your system. you can start kded4 manually, but look for debug message in the xsessions error file in your home directory for proper troubleshooting.
