"Since spam affects most people and kmail does not have its own spam-filter like
thunderbird has, it would be useful, if kmail users did not have to bother
about how to get that functionality into kmail.

Since spamassasin is too heavy for a lot of older hardware I would suggest some
tool like bogofilter. The package size is minimal and installing and setting it
up by default would get kmail en par with thunderbird in this regard."

NB I do not agree exactly with this wishlist, but it might be worth using PackageKit eventually to install bogofilter upon setting up a POP account. - Will

Kmail will and should probably not rely on PackageKit, installing spam filters is a distribution decision. But it may be good to have spam filters automatically on account creation, if spam filters are installed. I adapt the title, hope this is okay for you.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
