Small addition: The remove/replace isn't making all the buttons small, it's making maximum space used for the tasks small: effectively the same size as the K icon (probably width=height). The difference is that it means only one single task button, scaled to a small single line, is shown. The actual plasma container "task manager" remains the correct size, so it looks as if internal record of the space available is being borked. This appears to be fixed.
