Description Andy Elvey 2008-04-03 07:31:42 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.0.2)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
Compiler: gcc 4.1
OS: Linux

Marble has a very nice map of New Zealand, but Lake Taupo (our biggest lake) is missing.

Marble shows the North Island as being solid in the middle. It actually has Lake Taupo in the middle of the island.

This is a very minor problem. I emailed Torsten Rahn (today, 3rd April 2008) and he said that although it is not really a "bug", but he suggested that I file a bug-report anyway, so here it is... :-)

Moved to the new Data component.

After 4.1 is released, we will start to take a real good look on how we can improve our data. There are several possibilities:
* Set up a web service so that people can help us do it.
* Find new places to import data from (www.geonames.org, wikipedia, etc)
but those are mostly placemark data
* Import coastal and lake data from OpenStreetMap. They have nice tools and
people are actually working on the vector data quite a lot.

Just to let you know that we haven't forgotten about this.

Hi!

I confirm the lake is still "missing" from the Atlas and plain maps in KDE 4.3 RC3.

Fixed in master and possibly some older versions as well.
