The remote:/ KIO slave should display the same remote folders that are added to Dolphin's "Places" sidebar.

To reproduce:
1. Navigate to a remote folder (e.g. using fish://) in Dolphin.
2. Right click the folder and click add to places.
3. The folder appears as a remote folder in the sidebar.
4. In Konqueror or Dolpin, go to remote:/
5. Reaction: Why isn't the bookmarked folder there?  Why is this set of remote places completely independent of the set of places in the sidebar?

And vice versa:
1. Navigate to remote:/
2. Click "Add a Network Folder" and create one
3. This becomes a bookmark in remote:/
4. Reaction: Why doesn't this appear in the set of places in Dolphin with other remote folders I saved?

This may also apply to other kio slaves.

Actually, that's interesting... On the other hand if we think them, there's no point in having remote:/ in the first place. Also that'd mean we clutter the sidebar with all the remote folders.

I'd be tempted to just disallow remote folders in the sidebar. That'd mean we'd only have the "Network" entry, the storage devices and local folder there.

Peter being the maintainer of Dolphin, and since it'll have an impact on its workflow I'm adding him in CC. Peter, any opinion?

Hm, I personally use 2 remote folders bookmarked in the sidebar already (for the Dolphin homepage and for a Webdav access of my photos). In sum I have only 6 places items, so for me there is no reason reducing them to 4 (the required space of the places panel won't get smaller by this :-)).

I think we should allow that the user can add any folder he wants to the sidebar. The user decided to select "Add to Places" for a reason and if we say "we want to prevent that the sidebar gets cluttered, please look at the Network folder" then the "don't clutter" argument does not count if - like in my example - anyhow only 6 item places are used ;-)

Whether remote places items should be added to the Network folder is a different question. Just from my gut feeling I'd agree with Yuriy.

Yeah, I'm fine when it's this way (network places go into the network folder 
too). That's the other way around that I'm really not convinced about.

Agreed; I'm not sure it makes sense to have remote:/ also show locations in the places panel. These are separate things, and after all, if you've already got something accessible via the places panel, why not just access it from there?
