Apologies if this is a duplicate or can already be done, but I could not find it in searching. I like the file date/time stamp to be the date the picture was taken, just to make it easy to see when viewing in Dolphin or any other file manager (on any system). Currently, if I set digiKam to write the metadata to the EXIF headers, the file timestamp is changed every time metadata is updated. There is a plugin for "Adjust Date and Time", but that's a manual thing. I would like to see a global option that would either preserve the timestamp of the file when updating metadata, or an option to always change the file timestamp the EXIF creation date on metadata updates (or both). I believe exiv2 has the capability to preserve the timestamp. (Non-metadata updates, such as cropping, should probably update the timestamp.)
