Description Oliver Wilson 2008-03-31 20:34:26 UTC
Version: (using KDE 3.5.8)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

When trying delete / move a large batch of files from a Windows host using smb-kio, if konqueror encounters a file marked read-only on the Windows host, it will falsely suggest that the file "does not exist".

This message is quite misleading, and will cause the entire operation to fail.

Expected behaviour would surely be that Konqueror asks if the user:
(i) is sure he wishes to delete a read-only file,
(ii) wishes to ignore that particular file,
(iii) wishes to ignore all read-only files, or
(iv) wishes to cancel the whole operation.

KDE 3 is no longer maintained and the version of kio smb is rather different in KDE 4. Feel free to reopen this ticket if the issue is still present in the latest KDE release, v4.7.4 or higher.
