I can't find any option to strip bold, underline and italic control codes from incoming messages, just like unchecking "Configure > Interface > Colors > Allow Colored Text in IRC Messages" strips color codes. It would be nice to have it.

Thank You. :)

I dont think this is an entry for the wishlist, it's really a bug. First, you cant cut and paste correctly like with graphically showed smileys. And second this "feature" falsify the message especially if the writer dont intend it. For example if it's a coded text, a symbol, a name...

Could you explain what you mean by message falsification?
Comment 3 Robert Hofer 2010-03-10 13:40:45 UTC
Sure ;)

... type *1234* at your telephon to activate feature XYZ ...
... the product code is *A516111* ...
... the password is *ABCD*
... please print *SuperStore* at the header of the sign ...

This bug/feature request is also at https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=223616 for kmail and i tested it with kmail 1.13.1

I don't see what that has to do with Konversation -- Konversation doesn't interpret "*" as bold.
Comment 5 Robert Hofer 2010-03-10 14:50:13 UTC
Oups, you are right, bad search for existing entires to this bug from me. Forget my comments, i will make a new comment only for kmail.

Ok, thanks :).

Just for clarity, this request is about stripping special formatting control codes (which are exclusively intended to e.g. turn something bold) from incoming messages with the purpose of seeing messages unformatted irregardless of the author's intent. Which by itself is an entirely reasonable request, especially since we already support stripping color control codes and bold, italic etc. are in the same ballpark.

Dennis, you appear to have updated the wrong bug. This one is about the formatting of incoming messages in Konversation.
