Description of problem:
when you want to move a file to the trash can but this file is on a different
partition this file is moved to ~/.local/share/Trash which can take a very long
time (and fill up the home partition!)

Well, moving manually the file from a different partition to ~, is equally slow?

Anyway, filling the home is not a good behaviour!!! :-(

You can create trash directories on other partitions, see http://www.ramendik.ru/docs/trashspec.html

With KDE 4 this is not a problem anymore: files are moved to .Trash directory on the same partition. (dunno if it is due to KDE or an upgraded base system).
